JOKER – OTR MOVIES & SERIES

I was tense throughout the entire movie 🎥 but it is intriguing, dark and consonant with Gotham. It shows how a villain is forged.

Thought provoking, devastating and utterly beautiful. The current Joker, played so amazingly well by Joaquim Phoenix, makes us feel tense from beginning to end. It is the reinvention of the comic book story in a way that the spectator can deduce what is most likely to be the truth from their point of view. What was true? What was the character’s illusion? It emphasises how a villain is forged and there is no way to express the character’s experience other than outrightly disturbing.
Abuse, prejudice, poverty, need, emotional and physical violence. Furthermore, one can think that Batman was also one of the outcomes of all that violence where the music is the laugh of a clown. Batman, despite being rich was also traumatised and suffered with “humanity’s”cruelty, and so did many others, heroes and villains. In the end, all of them struggle to survive their life stories. What do they have in common? They perceive the world in a different way. Hallucinations, justice perception, super powers – they reinvented themselves. Joker, however, seems to have lost any sort of hope and dances carrying his followers to self destruction, because nothing makes sense anymore. We should not forget that art imitates life. The movie has become quite controversial and some may even think it instigates violence… but shouldn’t it be a wake up call instead?
